Editor’s note: The beautiful, real reason why we have holidays

Happy Thanksgiving, my friends. I always write here with as much thought and care as I can muster. But for every good idea I share, I know I have two or three mediocre ones.

And yet here you are, reading this post.

Thank you for sharing your time with me, week after week. I appreciate it more than I can express.

Today, I just have one question. It’s as much for you as it is for me.

Who are you thankful for?

For every name that comes to mind (and even the ones who don’t at first), I encourage you to reach out to them and share:

  • That you’re thinking of them
  • Why you’re thinking of them
  • What you’re most excited about for them to experience next

It’s easy and common to lose touch with colleagues, friends, and even loved ones. I get it.

But that’s why we have holidays — to rekindle the relationships we’ve let slip and to double-down on the people we know we appreciate.

The real magic happens when we can remind ourselves to do this every other day of the year, too.

Enjoy the turkey.
