You can do a lot more than you think in a single month

Four weeks ago today my co-founder and I launched Opening Bell Daily.

We announced the venture five days after I quit my job at Business Insider.

This morning, the 23rd edition of the newsletter hit inboxes.

It’s been thrilling and fun to do the work each day. Momentum continues to build and people are taking notice.

I’m excited to share that our company this week cemented a deal with Inc Magazine. Now, my morning column is nationally syndicated on their site, five days a week. The move expands our readership, and signals a vote of confidence from a world class business publication.

I’ve always believed that the best way to increase your luck is by publishing a high volume of work online.

That’s proven true here so far.

Nearly every time a newsletter hits inboxes, someone new reaches out for a collaboration or sponsorship.

Already in a matter of weeks, we’ve had the chance to meet and work with some great companies and people.

The magic of the internet lies in the vast number of unknown outcomes. Once something goes live online, you never know who might see it.

Who’s to say world leaders, celebrities, and rock stars aren’t reading Opening Bell Daily, or even this blog post?

The odds of that being true go up every time I hit publish.

My thinking is that, through enormous output, I can make success as inevitable as I can manage. It’s as if the more reps you do, the more narrow the asymptote between work and victory becomes.

I know, too, these reps compound rapidly over time. That said, it probably still happens faster than any of us realize.

In any case, it still amazes me how fast you can make progress on something you do every single day.

I find it so motivating to know I can get good at anything I want, so long as I put in the reps. Few things are more rewarding to me than getting better at a specific task after intentional practice.

Even infinity begins with a single month. Trying to make it count.

Subscribe to Opening Bell Daily to help make this risky career move a success.
